Imaginative...

I'm not sure if it's that 7 is a fun age, or if reading has opened new worlds, or if my son is just naturally hilarious, but for whatever reason, I love to read anything he thinks up to write.

At any rate, he keeps me laughing...

The Monkey Attack

One day I went to the zoo. It had monkeys. They were crazy. I gave a banana to the monkey. It bit me! Ouch! It was attacking me! That is why I love monkeys.

Blue

Blue reminds me of the blue sky. It reminds me of my tooth paste and tooth brush. It reminds me of water. It reminds me of the April rain.

(Since we both have bad dental histories, we've gone a little overboard in our attempts at instilling and training our children to have good dental hygiene habits. I couldn't stop laughing to realize that the first "blue" thing our son thought of was toothpaste & his tooth brush! I'm afraid we might be warping our meticulous son and transforming him into an obsessive tooth-brusher.)

Not a normal occurrence anymore...

These days, with the kids getting older, it's not very often they say something funny unintentionally. But when they do, I can't stop chuckling about it.

Poor Abbie. She was talking about the changes at school - "It's a whole new generation at school this year!" She's so animated when she talks, and though she's on the verge of teenage-hood, I couldn't help myself. I laughed until I cried. Then I explained the meaning of "generation". Then she made me PROMISE I wouldn't write it on Facebook. (Please don't tell her I cheated & wrote it on my blog instead.) :)

Noah - my skinny child with no body fat to warm himself. He's been wearing leggings under his pjs and the warm wool socks Aunt Jenny gave him when we went skiing in Colorado last year. He was getting ready for bed one night & proudly proclaimed, "Tonight I'm gonna be as toasty as...a piece of toast!"

Overheard

The boys were watching The Blue Planet this weekend at their grandparents. Noah was temporarily out of the room & when he returned, he asked Daniel:

"What happened? What kind of fish is this?"

With confidence and without hesitation, Daniel answered: "The fire breathing kind."

Wheeee...

Merry Christmas to you all!! We're enjoying time with family. Dad & Mom drove down a day early, as we were expecting snow. The 8 inches forecasted only turned out to be 1 1/2 inches, but we'll take it. It's fun to have a White Christmas. My husband took me on a "hot date" to Wal-Mart this afternoon; we spun doughnuts in the Old Navy parking lot & shared a Peppermint Mocha @ Starbucks. I am a happy woman. We put the kids to bed, filled stockings, and had fun playing the Wii we borrowed from friends.

Here's video of Mom & I were busting a gut watching Dad & Phil play tennis.

Evidence

In case you wondered how rowdy it can get...here is the proof. :)

(For Grandpa & Grammie)

I thought you'd enjoy these hula-hoop techniques as demonstrated by our three children. (No one will appreciate them quite like Grandpa & Grandma do.) Grace starts us off with the legs-spread-apart method, then Daniel with the twist-and-spin method, and last (but certainly not least!) Noah ends with the upper-body-workout method. (Thanks to my wonderful husband for a new camera that allows me to capture these precious moments of hilarity!)
